BMW Mileage Correction - FAQs
BMW: 1996-2004
All BMW models manufactured after 1996 have the mileage stored in four
locations:
- The Speedometer ( also known as
Tachometer, Dash, Odometer, Cluster )
- The Keys
The Immobilizer Unit (EWS)
The Light Control Module
(LCM)
The
mileage correction process adjusts
the entire mileage memories so that they are "in-sync" with
one another I.E. same mileages, all the individual
locations are therefore programmed.
BMW: 2004 to Present
The newer BMW
models from year 2004 onwards have the mileage stored in
similar locations as the older models but, each electronic
control unit will store the mileage when there is a fault on
that system, e.g. the ABS unit picks up a fault, not only
will it record the fault details but also the mileage at
which the fault was developed. Now that's a 150+ locations
where the mileage can be stored.
The entire mileage memories within the
the latest BMW models require calibration, therefore all the
locations are programmed, this is achieved via the CAS(S)
unit.
PMC offer a service that will correct,
adjust, calibrate or reset all the mileage memories
contained within any BMW model to date.
PMC can also clear any errors i.e. ABS,
airbag etc. on any new BMW as well as any hidden mileage
memories utilizing a standalone error eraser, few other
companies offer this service.
